Maybe you’ve been trying IVF for some time now, but haven’t had any success. Maybe you prefer doing things the natural way, and don’t want to rely on invasive forms of fertility treatment. In any case, there are plenty of alternative treatments that can help you boost fertility and increase your chances of conception – read on to find out more!

#1: Acupuncture

Depending on whom you ask, acupuncture has different effects. Chinese physicians will say that it unblocks your stagnant energy, resulting in a state of balance in your body; Western doctors, on the other hand, explain it as stimulating your nervous system, and releasing chemicals that promote healing.

In any case, acupuncture is known to increase blood flow to the reproductive organs, stimulate hormones, and decrease stress. For women, this results in increased blood flow to the uterus, making the uterus more “hospitable” for a fertilized egg; for men, it helps with improving sperm quality and quantity.

#2: Psychotherapy

According to a Swiss study in 2009, treatment for problems such as anxiety and other issues significantly increased pregnancy rates for couples. The aim of therapy? To reduce the chronic stress that act to deplete your body of nutrients, and hence boost fertility.

Therapy might be something that women in Asian societies are hesitant of – but it’s no secret that trying to get pregnant can be an emotionally draining process. If that’s the case for you, seeking therapy will help you to achieve a healthier state of mind, and boost fertility.

#3: Western and Chinese Herbs

There are several Western herbs that you may take to boost fertility; these include Maca Root, Red Raspberry Leaf, and Vitex or Chaste Tree Berry. If you want to give traditional Chinese medicine a shot, Licorice Root and Wild Yam Root are commonly prescribed for infertility. However, be sure to seek your physician’s advice prior to supplementing your diet with these!

#4: Qigong

Dating back thousands of years ago, Qigong is a Chinese exercise that promotes self-healing. There are many benefits to practicing Qigong, including reversing aging and losing weight; Qigong can also be used to boost fertility and increase your chances of getting pregnant.

According to Doctor Randine Lewis, author of The Infertility Cure and leading expert in the field of infertility, engaging in the following 3-step qigong exercise will help open up the energy pathways of your fallopian tubes, uterus, and ovaries:

Step 1: Breathe in through your nose. Whilst doing this, imagine the energy flowing from your nose and through to below your belly button. Then imagine the energy pooling between your belly button and pelvis, which is where your uterus is.

Step 2: As if you were stopping the flow of urine, tighten your pelvic floor muscles.

Step 3: Breathe out, and at the same time, release your pelvic floor muscles. Imagine your energy rising up to your tailbone, further up your spine, and finally passing through the top of your head and out your nose as you breathe out.

Repeat for a total of 5 times, and do this on a daily basis to boost fertility.

Using alternative treatments and medicines can go a long way in boosting fertility; however, for a more holistic and thorough approach, other factors should also be taken into consideration.
